The Fox News obituary of Kurt Vonnegut airing the day after his death seemed particularly harsh to me, but I may be especially sensitive because I’m a big Vonnegut fan. I’ve uploaded some clips from the Fox News obituary for you to see and decide for yourself. FYI, I tracked down the origin of the ancient Greek admonition “Not to speak evil of the dead” to Diogenes Laertius quoting Chilon (pictured at the beginning of this video) quoting Aesop at: www.classicpersuasion.org The photo of Chilon itself comes from Nicolas at www.greecetaxi.gr and can be found at http Finally, this video also qualifies as the latest addition to my YouTube playlist titled “Fox News Bias” at: www.youtube.com

I clicked on this video not really thinking it was going to be much….. But that is simply ridiculous. I mean if anything Fox News, and i use “news” lightly, just proved KV right about so many things. Especially his view of major politics, major parties, and the overall nature of human beings.

when i clicked on this video, i didn’t expect such a disrespectful, chauvinistic, and tasteless bashing of a great literary mind. i mean, sure, he did do some…strange things. but fox did NOT have the right to publicly berate a deceased man who made a huge impact on satirical and comical literature. I expect better than that from fox and i am deeply disappointed.

So Fox News will trash on a great American Author like Kurt Vonnegut and they’ll defend a piece of racist shit like Jerry Falwell…

This just goes to show you Fox News’ agenda. They are liars. “Fair and Balanced” my ass. This should be a fuckin crime, lying to the public this bad. False advertising? Something! Scumbags.

June 2nd 2010..how is it possible that they just keep getting bigger and more influential
It was another month on top of cable news for Fox News. How much? On all of cable, FNC was 4th in prime time, MSNBC 24th, CNN 30th and HLN 34th.

I am conservative mostly but i do agree with some liberal terms and i am a fan of vonnegut’s way of showing how things are in life through (please don’t take offense) somewhat random ideas. All I need to say is this: THAT WAS AN AWFUL WAY TO DISTINGUISH A GREAT AUTHOR!

    15. dubfingers on September 20th, 2010 12:20 am

kurt vonnegut stood up to the nazis, witnessed the horrors of ww2, and served his country honorably, received a purple heart, and fox news is a fault for not reporting that. for this i apologize, and will always honor his memory. RIP.

    18. fightforyourrights9 on September 24th, 2010 12:19 am

So Fox loves to talk about how great the military is and how all soldiers are “heroes,” but when it comes to Kurt Vonnegut, a soldier in WW2, a war prisoner of the Nazis, they make no mention of it. Fuck Fox News and their constant hypocritical bullshit.

    19. sneetchinflux on September 24th, 2010 12:37 pm

what the fuck. i’m so glad you posted this..

    20. CountofMC on September 25th, 2010 12:41 am

Wow that was horrible. I’ve never even read any of his books, but there’s no excuse for that. That could hardly even be called an obituary, just an opportunity to drag a dead man’s legacy through the mud.

    21. Macaframa1 on September 25th, 2010 10:35 pm

      fuck you foxnews….

    22. ldaccardi on September 29th, 2010 12:24 am
